Katakana characters are pronounced the same as the equivalent hiragana characters.

There are more katakana characters because they are mainly used to pronounce foreign words.

The katakana chart exists out of 46 basic characters, another 20 characters with the dakuon 濁音 diacritic mark, and 5 characters with the handakuon 半濁音 mark.
